Title IV: Student Support & Academic Enrichment
Title IV Part A, Subpart 1 authorizes the expense of federal funds to support students and schools in three domains:
Well-rounded education
Safe and healthy students
Effective use of technology
The Rio Rancho School District leverages these funds to maximize supports for students in the following ways: In the event of an extenuating circumstances with students who have presented as self to harm or others, students will be referred to an outside mental health agency for targeted support (free to the family). Additionally, a team of ambassadors at each campus will be formed to help build capacity and understanding of supporting our students in a holistic manner that is customized to individual needs (academic as well as behavioral), if possible, we provide supplemental staffing at our schools with the highest percentages of children from economically disadvantaged households; a spanish bilingual licensed school counselor is available to all students in the district in need of school counselor support provided in Spanish. This person will also serve as an additional school counselor for all students in the district to support in English as well. This position is housed at Puesta del Sol Elementary, where the highest concentration of Spanish speaking students and families are within our school district; an additional teacher will help to reduce the class size, and increase the opportunities for students to received direct targeted instructional support in core content areas, including English Language Development through the core instruction aligned to the NM Content Standards at Eagle Ridge middle school.
Providing equitable services for private school students is a Title IV Part A requirement. RRPS works in partnership with St. Thomas Aquinas school and Gospel Light Baptist Academy to offer private school participants support to meet their educational needs and supplement the educational services provided by the private school.
