Registration FAQs

Here are Rio Rancho Public Schools, our goal is to create as simple and easy of a registration process as possible. We know forms and certain regulatory requirements can sometimes be complicated, but we're here to help.

Below please find the answers to some of our most frequently asked questions for school registration:

Registration FAQ's

Q: Do you have a Power School account and are all of your children currently enrolled in a RRPS school?
A: You may re-enroll your children for the 2021-2022 school year. When you log into your parent portal account, a Returning Student Registration icon is in the left navigation menu.  Click on the icon to log in to PowerSchool Registration and enroll your student(s). 

Q: Why is Emergency contact information needed if I am the parent and I list my phone number?
A: In the case of an emergency where we were not able to get ahold of the Primary/Secondary Guardians Emergency contacts would be the next to be contacted.  See why Staying Connected is so important:

Q:  Do you have a Power School account but not all of your children who attend a RRPS school are enrolled?
A:  Visit any one of the schools where you have children enrolled, present a photo ID, and pick up a letter containing instructions and access codes.  Then log into PowerSchool and follow the instructions to add the additional student(s) to your account. Once you have added all of your students to the account, you can click on Returning Student Registration icon in the left navigation menu to enroll your student(s) for the 2021-2022 school year.

Q:  Do you have a child who is entering RRPS for the first time this year?
A: Please follow the directions for enrolling him/her as a NEW student. Once your child is registered you can add him/her to your existing PowerSchool Parent account.

Q:  What if I don’t have a Power School account yet?
A: You must visit your child's school to pick up letters containing access codes for each of your students enrolled in a Rio Rancho School.  You will receive a separate letter for each child, but you can pick up all the letters for your children at any of your children's schools.  Then, set up your account on Power School. Once you have created the account, you can click on the Returning Student Registration icon and enroll your children.

Q: Did you think you had an existing Power School account but the system is refusing you access?
A: Contact the school Registrar to retrieve your username and/or password. If you are calling during the Summer closed hours, you may complete 
PowerSchool Support account recovery information.

Q: Do I need to come to the school to present proof of residency or other documentation?
A: PowerSchool Registration gives you the option to upload documents from home.  Or, you can visit the school during the registration dates.

Q: Do I have to come to the school to get my student’s schedule?
A: Please contact your school to see how they are distributing schedules.

Q: What if I missed Athletics registration through PowerSchool Registration, can my student still play sports?
A: Yes, you need to email/call the Athletic Coordinator at your student's school and they will email you an electronic version of the form.
