
Notification System Issues
The RRPS Notification System is used for school-wide and district-wide notification messaging, including messages for emergency calls, such as school lockdowns, and weather-related delays, etc. Messages may be sent by phone, by e-mail, by text, or a combination of methods. If there is an emergency situation specifically with your child, school staff will contact you directly via the emergency numbers you provided when you registered.
Because of the importance of RRPS notifications for student families, it's important to address any issues related to receipt of these messages. Below please find details on troubleshooting issues when you aren't receiving notification messages from the district or your child's school.
Troubleshooting: Not Receiving Messages
All contact information for parents/guardians is pulled directly from the details entered in the online registration system at the time you register your child(ren). If you are not receiving emails, calls or text messages from your child's school or the school district, please do the following:
Step 1: Ensure the contact information you have entered into your child's PowerSchool account is correct for your phone, cell phone and email address. If it is not correct and you need to update it, please call the school registrar to make the change or submit an online Change of Contact Information form.
Step 2: If all of your contact information is correct, and you are still not receiving notifications from the district or your child's school. Please call the school's registrar to request assistance. The registrar can go into the system to verify, make changes and check to ensure you have not been opted out of messaging.
Troubleshooting: Receiving Messages in Error
If you are receiving calls, emails or text messages from Rio Rancho Public Schools and do not have children in our school system, please do the following:
Step 1: Listen carefully to the message and make a note of the following information:
a. Student Name
b. School Name
c. Reason for the call
d. Date of call
Step 2: Contact the school that made the emergency call and let them know you were called in error (see table below). Please give them the phone number that was called in error and the above information. Keep in mind the information may not be fixed immediately, we may need to contact the parent/guardian on record with that phone number to verify their contact information in order to make the correction in the system.
