We're so excited that you have chosen Rio Rancho Public Schools for your kindergarten-aged child. Kindergarten is an exciting time for our young students and we know that we'll enjoy having them in our classrooms so we can ignite their potential.

To register your kindergartener with Rio Rancho Public Schools, you'll need to register your child as either a New Student or a Returning Student. If your child attended Shining Stars Preschool, you will register them as a Returning Student. If your child has never attended a Rio Rancho Public School, then you will register them as a New Student.

• Is my child old enough for kindergarten? Under state law, children enrolling for kindergarten for the 2025-2026 School Year must reach their 5th birthday by 12:01 a.m. on September 1, 2025.

• Is Kindergarten a half-day or full-day program? All RRPS schools have full-day kindergarten programs.

• Can I register my child for Shining Stars Preschool with this process? No. Shining Stars Preschool has a separate lottery based admissions and registration process.

Kindergarten Round-Up gives parents of Kindergartners a special time to visit the school and complete enrollment. Not able to attend? You may come to the school during regular office hours after Kindergarten Round-Up.
