Employee Leave

FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act)
FMLA stands for "Family and Medical Leave Act," which allows eligible employees to take up to 12 weeks of unpaid, job-protected leave per year for family or medical reasons, like caring for a newborn, adopting a child, or dealing with a serious health condition of themselves or a family member, while still maintaining their health insurance coverage; essentially giving them time off work for important personal situations without risking their job. For further information, please check out this Department of Labor website.
Rio Rancho Public Schools allows its employees to utilize their accrued sick, annual or personal leave during their FMLA time off.
Please contact your Leave Specialist to determine if you are eligible for FMLA protection.
ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act)
The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) protects employees with disabilities from discrimination in the workplace. It also requires employers to provide reasonable accommodations to qualified employees.
If you have a disability and would like to request an accommodation, please request assistance with this process from your immediate supervisor or from your Leave Specialist.
Worker's Compensation Insurance
Workers' compensation is insurance that provides financial and medical benefits to employees who are injured or become ill while working.
If you are injured while at work, please report your injury immediately to the school Nurse or to your immediate supervisor.
