RRPS School Board Seeks Member to Fill District 3 Vacancy

Rio Rancho Public Schools Board of Education Vacancy Announcement

Due to the resignation of Board Member Martha Janssen, the Rio Rancho 
Public Schools Board of Education has a vacancy in District 3. The Board of Education must fill this vacant position by April 11, 2019. An individual appointed to fill the position will serve until January 1, 2020.

To be eligible for consideration, you must:
  • Be a registered voter;
  • Be 18 years of age;
  • Physically reside in District 3 (see maps linked below);
  • Not a convicted felon; and
  • Not an employee of Rio Rancho Public Schools.

In addition to the legal qualifications, an appointed member of the RRPS Board of Education must commit to:
  • Attend regular and special board meetings when called (2018-19 Board Meeting Schedule);
  • Attend additional meetings such as executive meetings, work sessions, briefings and others as
  • needed;
  • Attend committee meetings of the board such as policy; finance; and audit;
  • Attend professional trainings; and
  • Other considerations as circumstances warrant.
How do I apply?

If you are registered to vote in New Mexico, reside within District 3, and are interested in serving on the 
Rio Rancho Public Schools Board of Education, we'd like to hear from you!

Required documentation:

Please submit a letter of interest and resume along with a copy of your current voter information card. Your voter information card will be used to confirm that you are a qualified elector and reside within District 3. If you do not have a voter information card, you may go to the Sandoval County Clerk’s office and obtain a Certified Copy of your Voter Registration Application.

How to submit your application:

  • You may submit your application online by completing the online application and attaching all required documents 
  • You may send or hand-deliver the requested documents including a resume, letter of interest and confirmation that you are eligible to be considered for appointment no later than 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 21, 2019 to the following address:

All information that you submit to be considered for appointment to the Board of Education becomes a public record and is subject to inspection by the public in accordance with the state Inspection of Public Records Act.

What happens next?  

Following a review of the submitted materials, the board will schedule interviews with selected candidates.
