Cleveland High School Weapons Incident Updates

RRPS and Rio Rancho Police are investigating a situation involving a student with a gun at Cleveland High School on Thursday morning, February 14.  We have confirmed that all students are safe and no one has been injured.  The weapon involved has been recovered and a suspect is in custody.

and the Rio Rancho Police Department:

Cleveland High School classes will be canceled on Friday, February 15.  School will resume at Cleveland on Tuesday, February 19 after the Presidents Day holiday. 

All other Rio Rancho schools will be on a regular schedule Friday, February 15.  RRPS schools are closed for the Presidents Day holiday on Monday, February 18.  

The Cleveland Storm-Atrisco Heritage Academy basketball game scheduled for Thursday night at Atrisco Heritage has been postponed until Friday night ,February 15.

RRPS has emergency plans in place and conducts emergency drills to prepare staff and students to respond to incidents on school campuses.  We commend our Cleveland staff and students, who responded today as they were trained to do.  We also once again thank our parents for their cooperation and understanding, and our local law enforcement agencies, especially the Rio Rancho Police Department and the City of Rio Rancho, for their quick response and professionalism.
