RRPS Hall of Honor

Hall of Honor logoThe Rio Rancho Public Schools Hall of Honor was established to recognize extraordinary service over an extended period of time to the children of Rio Rancho and Rio Rancho Public Schools.  Selection to the Hall of Honor is the highest recognition bestowed by the RRPS Board of Education.

Meet the members of the Hall of Honor

The RRPS Hall of Honor Committee solicits nominees for induction in the fall of each year.  The committee, consisting of community and district staff representatives, reviews the nominations and may recommend up to four candidates annually for the Board of Education's consideration as inductees.  In selecting Hall of Honor inductees, primary consideration is given to individuals who have made a significant contribution to education in Rio Rancho and to Rio Rancho Public Schools in particular.  In addition, the reputation and moral character of the individual must be considered.

Candidates may be nominated in any of five categories:

  • Former school board members
  • Community/business
  • Former RRPS staff members
  • Government
  • School district volunteers and occasional employees

The committee forwards its recommendation to the RRPS Superintendent of Schools for review.  The recommendation is then presented to the RRPS Board of Education at a duly-noticed public meeting for its consideration and action.  Candidates chosen for induction (or family members in the case of posthumous recognition) are notified and honored at a meeting of the board and/or at a special recognition event, and a plaque recognizing the recipient’s contributions is permanently displayed in the atrium of the RRPS Training Center adjacent to the board room.
