Governor Lujan Grisham with ESES Student Council

Last month, Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham visited Ernest Stapleton Elementary to hold a press conference about her executive order designed to reduce the administrative burden on schools in New Mexico.

Governor Lujan Grisham met with RRPS Superintendent, Dr. V. Sue Cleveland, PED Secretary Kurt Steinhaus, RRSEU President and ESE teacher Bille Helean as well as several members of the ESE Student Council.

During the press conference, Governor Lujan Grisham explained the parameters of the May 23 executive order, and how the order trims 34% from administrative work in school districts and charter schools across New Mexico and cuts required teacher paperwork by 41%.

“Less time spent on paperwork means more time that educators have to spend quality time teaching our students,” noted Governor Lujan Grisham.
