Little girl in a face mask holding books with the words "Masking Now Voluntary" next to her

Today, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham announced an immediate end to New Mexico’s indoor mask mandate. In addition, Rio Rancho Public Schools has been notified by the New Mexico Public Education Department that the decision to institute mask mandates in public schools now sits with local school leaders.

Therefore, effective immediately, Rio Rancho Public Schools is making indoor masking voluntary for all staff and students, regardless of vaccination status. Students and staff are still welcome to wear a face mask if they feel it is the best option for them while on an RRPS campus. With regards to other COVID safety measures currently in place, we will update you on those as soon as additional details become available.

We thank you for your continued partnership and support.
