Student shakes hand with local car dealer

Two graduating Rio Rancho seniors are styling hot new rides this summer, thanks to their stellar attendance records and the generosity of local car dealerships. Cleveland High senior Emily Kaldveer (at right, looking excited as Reliable Nissan General Manager Adam Marazzo looks on) drove home a brand-new Nissan, and Rio Rancho High senior Elijah Brown won a new Chevrolet (at left below, with Reliable Chevrolet General Manager David Baker, his dad, and RRPS Executive Director of Student Services Tonna Burgos) in a contest sponsored by Reliable Chevrolet and Reliable Nissan.  The dealerships sponsored the contest to encourage perfect school attendance and remind students that being present at school is vital to student success.

Eighteen students from Rio Rancho’s four high schools qualified for a chance to win a vehicle by meeting the criteria of having registered for the contest and having no unexcused absences or tardies in the spring semester.  Another 80 seniors qualified for a $500 raffle won by RRHS senior Katilyn Kincaid.  David Baker, General Manager at Reliable Chevrolet, said about the giveaway, “We’re deeply committed to the area we have served for so many years and wanted to support the hard work of local high school seniors with this giveaway.” Adam Marazzo, General Manager at Reliable Nissan, said, “As a local business, when students in our back yard succeed, that only helps us down the road when they are our customers, employees, and neighbors.  We believe in investing in the area we call home.”
