NM Recognized Among States for NCLB Waiver
The U.S. Department of Education (USDOE) recognized New Mexico, along with only six other states, for implementing key reforms as part of a waiver from the federal No Child Left Behind Act. Currently, 43 states possess similar waivers; however, New Mexico is among only seven who are considered to be “on track” for the commitments made to improve student achievement through reform. This designation will allow the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) to apply earlier for an extension of the waiver...much sooner than other states. Read the full story here....

RRHS Graduate Needs Your Help!
Stephanie von Ancken, a RRHS 2009 graduate, has spent the last 9 months living and working in Granada, Nicaragua. She did an internship for a non-profit organization called Casa Xalteva. She is raising money to build a new kitchen to provide children breakfast and lunch. The current kitchen is worn out and slow. Thankfully, there is a simple solution to keeping the children in school and you can help! They need new kitchen appliances and a larger refrigerator to store enough food for the week! Please share this link with your friends and family who may be interested! View a short video about this effort. Thank you Ram Nation for your support! Donations will be matched dollar for dollar up to $1,000.

RRPS Seeks Parent Input on Textbook Adoption

Every six years, the state of New Mexico and local school districts review textbooks and other instructional materials in order to adopt updated materials for use in classrooms. This year we will be adopting instructional materials for grades 9-12 English Language Arts, World Languages, and high school reading intervention to support our implementation of the Common Core State Standards. Interested in helping on an Adoption Committee? We'll have monthly meetings November through March. Click here for details.
