Elementary and Middle Schools

NOTE: Each Elementary and Middle school will be having a summer school program this year that is different from the upper grades. Each school is running its own specific program for pre-selected students focused on reading and math skills. Contact your child's school if you have questions about this.

Rio Rancho Public Schools’ five-week summer session for grades 8 through 12 will begin on June 1, 2006 and end on June 30, 2006. All classes will be held Monday through Friday at Rio Rancho High School unless otherwise specified.

Summer session calendars, applications for enrollment, and scholarship applications are available at Rio Rancho Mid-High School, Rio Rancho High School, or by clicking the links here to download them. Completed applications and payment (money order or cashier’s check only – no cash, personal checks, or credit cards), as well as the student’s photo identification card or driver’s license, must be presented at registration. Applications must be signed by a parent and by a counselor at the school where the student is enrolled.

Students intending to park vehicles on campus must pay a $5.00 fee, complete a Parking Application and provide copies of their driver’s license, vehicle registration and proof of insurance.

Registration will be held at the times and locations indicated on the summer session calendar.

  • Early registration
    Monday through Thursday, April 10-May 4 at Rio Rancho Mid-High and at Rio Rancho High School at a fee of $325.00.
  • General registration
    Monday through Thursday May 8-May 25 at a fee of $350.00 for one credit at Rio Rancho High School and at Rio Rancho Mid-High.
  • Late registration
    May 30-31st from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 only at Rio Rancho Mid-High, available at a fee of $375.00 for one credit.

There will be no registration on Fridays, or on Monday, May 29th (Memorial Day holiday).

Financial assistance will be available, based on need, for students from any New Mexico school district. Students who receive free or reduced-price lunch may apply for partial tuition waivers, based on proof of need. Scholarship applications and supporting documentation must be received in the Summer Session Principal’s office no later than May 15, 2006.

Unless the student is applying for a scholarship, all fees must be paid in full at the time of registration with a money order or cashier’s check payable to RRPS. No personal checks, cash, or credit cards will be accepted. No refunds will be given after June 1, 2006.

Students may enroll for only one class. Students enrolled for the Eighth Grade Resource Team will have two blocks each day; no credit will be earned for this class. Those in grades 9 through 12 will have two blocks (of the same class) each day, and may earn one credit. Classes will be held from 7:30 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. Monday through Friday each week unless otherwise specified. There will be a 10-minute break between blocks. Students who accumulate absences equal to 2 class days will be withdrawn without credit or refund. A dress code will be enforced.

  • Culinary Arts- Foods of Italy, France, & Germany

Summer School Dates: June 1 - June 30, 2006

Financial Assistance: Students who apply for financial assistance and receive partial scholarships must provide a $50.00 deposit (money order or cashier’s check) no later than May 31, 2006.

Attendance: Attendance will be taken during each block. Students are expected to be seated and ready for class at 7:30 am and at the beginning of each block. Tardiness will be recorded by the student’s arrival time. The amount of time missed must be made up with the Summer Session Principal that same day.

Parking: A Parking Application must be completed, and an administrative fee of $5.00 must be paid.

  • Completed registration form with signature of parent/guardian AND signature of school counselor whether course is being taken to replace a low / failing grade or for advancement.
  • Note: If the student will be parking a vehicle on campus, a Parking Application must be completed and a $5.00 administrative fee must be paid. The student must provide a copy of: driver’s license, vehicle registration, and insurance card.
