• Original birth certificate (must be issued by the state or municipality -- NOT by a hospital)
• Proof of residency (utility bill, rental or purchase agreement, or house deed)
• Child’s Social Security card (requested, but not required)
• Current immunization records – the required immunizations are:
  • Four DPT (diphtheria/pertussis/tetanus) including one after the fourth birthday
  • Three to four Polio (depending on type of vaccine), including one after the fourth birthday
  • o Two MMR (measles/mumps/rubella) one MMR dose must be after the 1st birthday, the 2nd dose at least 28 days after 1st dose
  • Three Hepatitis B
  • Two Varicella (chicken pox) after 1st birthday with at least 28 days between the first and second dose
  • These are general guidelines; please contact your family physician, health clinic, or the school nurse at your child’s school for more specific information. Parents may begin the registration process without immunizations being up-to-date, but the child will not be placed with a teacher until the records indicate completion of all required immunizations.

The attendance boundaries for some RRPS schools have changed this year due to the opening of the new Cielo Azul and Sandia Vista Elementary Schools.  If you are unsure where your child should register, click here to view the latest boundary maps, or contact the Student Transportation office at 338-0078 ext. 100.

All Rio Rancho schools have full-day kindergarten; however, parents who wish to register their child for ½ day may do so and should make those arrangements with their child’s school.
