Summer Sports Camps Heating Up!

Dear Students,
In order for us to meet our goals in preparing you, as well as meet the goals that are important to you and your parents, we will need to get started this summer. Only students in 9-12 grade have assigned reading for this summer.
Summer reading is an important component for building your skills and further developing your analytical abilities with a strong foundation for future classes. We know that you are ready for the challenge and that the summer reading will pique your interest, thus producing active, lifetime readers, and, as a byproduct, better writers.
This summer we would like students to read one (AP classes may require both books/readings) of the books listed in this document. Students, please read with thoughtful consideration as you will have a writing assignment over the book upon your return to school. The public libraries and local bookstores have been contacted and these books are readily available.
Have a wonderful summer and happy reading!
A Note To Parents: RRPS policy allows students and parents who have objection to the district selected book(s) to select a prescribed alternative. After reviewing the assigned materials, please contact your child’s teacher if you would like to discuss alternative reading assignments.
Books are selected based on the National Council of Teachers of English recommendations, recommended AP reading lists, recommendations from master teachers, and have been approved by our district curriculum team.
Here is a complete listing of all the forms, calendars and information parents may want to download, print, and stick on the frig!
