What is AVID?
AVID is a world-wide program currently in place in Rio Rancho Public Schools. This program provides support to students who qualify to succeed in college prep classes in preparation for entrance into accredited 4 year colleges. We are currently seeking tutors to provide support to students in the AVID program twice a week with whatever work students bring in. We are accepting tutors now for this year and for next year as well.
What are the tutor requirements?
- Anyone currently enrolled in college or a college graduate. Expertise in a specific content area is not necessary; however science and math knowledge would be helpful. Tutors work with small groups of students in the AVID classroom using Inquiry to draw out answers from the students in the group.
- Tutors will be hired on a contractual hourly basis with the RRPS district.
- Anyone working in RRPS schools must complete the HR Screening process (i.e. a background check, fingerprinted by DPS, etc.).
