Meet Our Head Coach

Coach Jim JuarezCoach Jim Juarez has been the Rio Rancho High School Women’s Golf coach since the 1999-2000 school year.  Coach Juarez came to Rio Rancho after working four years with the boys' and girls' golf programs at West Mesa High School.  Coach Juarez also spent several years in the officiating ranks officiating high school basketball.

Coach Juarez began his first day coaching with one player on the team.  That team eventually ended up with four players (the bare minimum for a team), with a total of three years of playing experience. This team won the district championship.  The program has grown into one of the largest and most consistent in the area.  They are one of the handful of programs that have qualified for state championships every year for the last six years. The women’s program is in the midst of seven consecutive District 1-5A Championships. Under Coach Juarez, the Program has had six Individual District Champions, 33 All District players, and 46 All-District All-Academic players.

Team Spotlight!

2006 Rio Rancho High School Varsity Women's Golf Team The 2006-2007 Rio Rancho Women’s Golf program finished as District Champions 1-AAAAA, and, in the process, selected five members to the All-District team.  Throughout the 2007 season, the Lady Rams amassed eight state team qualifying scores and 25 individual qualifying scores.

Despite 2006-2007 being a rebuilding year, with players that had little experience, the program was able to continue its history of successful and competitive nature finishing fifth at the New Mexico AAAAA State Championships in Albuquerque at UNM's Championship Golf Course.  The two returning varsity players, Sadie Mele and Shannon Ostrowsky, finished in the top 20 of the field competing in the State Championships.  The team will have three returning varsity players and, yet, once again, will be very young. The three returning players are Shannon Ostrowsky (junior), Chelsea Ward (sophomore), and Amanda Franks (freshman). Other returning players are Kristina Yi and Rebecca Anderson
