The resources that they use to help you are available free to you.

1. Estimate how much money you will need to help pay for college

2. Ask for financial aid information and apply for scholarships from schools in which you applying. Colleges will not process scholarship applications if you have not applied or been admitted to the school.

3. Learn about the New Mexico Lottery ScholarshipAward (NO APPLICATION) :

5. WUE – Western Undergraduate Exchange program.

Tuition reduction program for students that want to attend an out of state public school that is west of a line that goes from NM north.  Access more information at http://www.wiche.edu/sep/. After you go to this web site click on WUE for additional information.

6. Submit the FAFSA after your parents have completed the 2007 federal tax forms (can submit the FAFSA before the tax form is filed).

The FAFSA should be sent as soon as possible.  Some colleges have deadlines for institutional financial aid programs such as work-study, Perkins Loans, etc.  The Pell Grant and Stafford Loan programs do not have a deadline. The FAFSA must be submitted every year.  Not all forms of financial aid are needs based.  The FAFSA worksheets and form are available on line at www.fafsa.ed.gov
