Head Athletic Trainer

Melissa Loiacono MS, ATC, LAT

Head Athletic Trainer Melissa Loiacono, has been working in the Rio Rancho District for ten years. She will also be responsible for coaching the Rio Rancho Sports Medicine team in their quest for an eighth state championship. Miss Loiacono has been a Nationally Certified and Licensed Athletic Trainer since 1993 earning her B.S. in Athletic Training from the UNM in 1993 and her M.S. in Sports Administration with an emphasis in Sports Psychology in 1997. 

After graduating, Miss Loiacono instructed for two years at the University of New Mexico, and one year at Arkansas State University before the Rio Rancho staff was fortunate to add her to the Ram family. 

Miss Loiacono is responsible for teaching the Sports Medicine curriculum at Rio Rancho High School. She is a level III teacher who is instructor certified in CPR/AED/FA. Additonally, Miss Loiacono was selected as the Teacher of the Year in 2003-04, and appears in both the 2003-04 and 2004-05 editions of Who's Who Among America's Teachers.
