What are Dual Credit Courses?
College level courses in which a RRHS student can complete and receive both college and RRHS credit
- The college waives student tuition for dual credit classes. The student is responsible for additional fees, purchase of supplies and transportation. If the course has a fee, the fee must be paid within 24 hrs. or the student is dropped from the course.
- Dual credit classes are always counted as ELECTIVE credits at RRHS.
3-4 college credits equal 1 credit at RRHS ELECTIVE credit
1-2 college credits equal .5 credit at RRHS ELECTIVE credit
- Dual enrollment course grades are always counted as an elective and never weighted. Students may take a technology or art course from CNM to meet RRHS fine art or tech credit requirements.
- RRHS has dual credit course agreeements with CNM, UNM/Los Alamos (courses are taught at RRMH and in Bernalillo) and SIPI
CNM Dual Credit Courses
Students interested in enrolling in dual credit classes with CNM need to get admitted to CNM NOW. CNM is teaching classes at the RRMH - see the class schedule for a complete listing of these classes.
What is dual enrollment?
College level courses in which a RRHS student can complete and receive both college and RRHS elective credit. Beginning with the Class of 2010, students must earn credit in a dual credit, AP course, or distance learning course.
Tuition: CNM waives student tuition for concurrent enrollment classes. The student is responsible for additional fees, purchase of supplies and transportation.
Credit: 3-4 college credits are equal to 1 ELECTIVE credit at RRHS, 1-2 CNM credits = .5 elective credit
Dual enrollment classes are always counted as ELECTIVE credits (can not be taken for a core graduation requirement
credit at RRHS. Dual enrollment course grades are always counted as an elective and never weighted.
Students may take a technology or art course from CNM to meet RRHS fine art or tech credit requirements. Courses being taken for fine arts or tech credit must be approved by an academy counselor prior to enrollment at CNM.
Who: Any senior, junior or sophomore that meets course enrollment test score requirements.
Fees: If the course has a fee, the fee must be paid within 24 hrs. of enrolling in the course or the student is dropped from the course.
How: Dual credit students must apply for admission to CNM, submit a signed signature page to CNM, complete the “on line orientation” and have ACT or SAT or accuplacer test scores that qualify for the desired course/s. The accuplacer is a free test that is given at the CNM Westside campus every day M-F from 8 –3:30.
