ClassWork:

The unit we are currently working on will take us up to Spring Break.  We are studying how the nation grew in the early 1800's.  This includes new land acquisitions, inventions, and how the people and laws adjusted to this growth.

EXTRA CREDIT:

1. We have been seeing Uncle Sam in political cartoons a lot lately.  For this assignment, students need to find a source (not Wikipedia) and bring it in, as well as writing Summary on the history of Uncle Sam.  When was he created and why?

2. Students can bring a political cartoon they find.  Attached to it on a sheet of paper, they need to answer the following...

  • Name the cartooning techniques used by the author.
  • What is the topic of the cartoon?
  • What is the message of the cartoon?

Class Activities or News:

CONSTITUTION PROJECT-DUE MARCH 10.  STUDENTS HAVE A DIRECTIONS PAGE EXPLAINING.

Students were supposed to have a quick check over last Wednesday's notes(2/17), but due to the delayed start on Tuesday and needing to complete 2 topics, the quick check is now Thursday the 25th or Friday the 26th. (depending which day the student sees me).

Students need to bring their textbooks everyday to class.

We have many students not doing homework.  What I have started with the students is if the homework is one day late, they can receive half credit.  After that, the score becomes a 0.
