Grade Calculation:
Mrs. Hungerford uses weighted categories instead of points for grading. To calculate your student's grade you must:
1. average each category
2. multiply each average by the category's percent weight
3. add each result to get the final percent
Because Algebra is a high school credit I have different weights for Algebra and General math.
Algebra: General Math:
Homework 10% Homework 15%
Participation 25% (notes/classwork) Participation 30% (notes/classwork)
Quizzes 15% Quizzes 20%
Tests 50% Tests 35%
Example: Suppose your algebra student has a 95 average for homwork, a 100 average for participation, an 80 average on quizzes, and a 70 average for tests. The grade would be calculated as follows.
95 x .10 = 9.5
100 x .25 = 25
80 x .15 = 12
70 x .50 = 35
9.5+25+12+35 = 81.5 or 82%
