Team Happenings
Change in Late Work Policy
Effective March 22nd 2010
To help your child become better prepared for 7th grade Team 6A has modified our late work policy. As your child moves onto 7th grade more responsibility will be placed upon them to complete their work on time. Our policy changes will be as followed:
The students will be able to make up missing assignments that are no more than a week late. They will NOT be able to make up missing work that is more than a week late. This also includes any tests and quizzes. The teachers will post missing assignment lists every week of the assignments that are eligible for make-up. The make-up work will be due by Friday of that week. ALL make-up work will receive a 50% deduction in grading as a penalty for being late.
The exception to the policy change is having an excused absence. The student will have ONE day for every day absent to make up missing work. If the student missed two days of school they will have two days to get, complete, and turn in the missed work. If the student does not turn in the missed assignments within the allotted time frame then the late work policy becomes activated. If a child is absent on the day that a previously known assignment was due that assignment will be due upon return and is not given any extra time. For example; a book report was assigned two weeks ago and is due Tuesday, Sally was absent Tuesday, the book report is due the day Sally returns as she already knew about the assignment before she was absent.
Grades/Progress Reports
Parents you now have access to your child's grades 24/7. You must come into ERMS to get your login and password.
Discipline
ReFocus is a great way to help children look at their behaviors before they become a referral to the main office. A child is asked to fill out a ReFocus form when they are not following ERMS rules of being Safe, Responsible, and Respectful while in any area of the school.
Snacks
Students can bring healthy snacks to eat during class and starting next week snacks will be available to purchase.
Late Work Policy
Late work will be accepted up to five days late and will be lowered one letter grade for each day late. If your child is out sick they will have one day for each day absent to make up work with penalty. You can also call to have work put together for your child. We just need 24 hours notice.
Cell Phones
In this day and age, we realize that many of our students need to carry a cell phone with them to school. This is allowed, however, it is RRPS policy that all electronic devices must be turned off during the school day and kept in their lockers. If a student needs to use the phone, they may use a teacher's classroom phone. If you need to get a message to your student, you should call the front office and the message will be delivered to your student in a timely manner. Please help us to enforce this expectation.
Student ID's
- permanent ID's have be issued
- Students that have lost their permanent ID's must buy a replacement for $5.
- Students without ID's will be given a cheese sandwich for lunch and will be unable to check out books or use computers.
- Lanyards with plastic ID covers are available in the library for $1.
- PLEASE REMIND YOUR STUDENT TO CARRY THEIR ID WITH THEM AT ALL TIMES!
