Any boy interested in playing basketball for Cleveland HS: There will be a parent/player meeting this Thursday night, April 9th at 6:30 in the Mid-High Cafeteria. We will be discussing open gyms, summer plans and booster club information. If you are interested in playing basketball for Cleveland High School next year, then it is important that you be at this meeting. Any questions, contact Coach Smith at 896.5754.

RRPS is in the process of opening a new high school. The projected date for opening is tentatively set for August of 2009. This page is dedicated to bringing you the latest news, pictures, and information about our next (latest) high school as it is being developed. We are excited about the opening of V. Sue Cleveland High School.
We have received several inquiries about the projected time-line for the acceptance of applications for employment. We anticipate the hiring process to begin sometime in the summer of 2009. It is important to note that the actual start dates for all jobs will execute in July / August of 2009. We encourage everyone to complete an application and look forward to sharing our vision for V. Sue Cleveland High School with you.

Cleveland HS Offers Early Schedule Review Opportunity
Cleveland High School students and parents who would like to discuss class schedules and programs of study will have the chance to get a head start on the process at the end of June. During a three-day period, counselors and administrators will be available to preview student schedules for the 2009-2010 school year and to discuss desired schedule changes, review transcripts and assist with students’ programs of study.
Incoming Juniors and their families are invited to attend on Monday, June 29, incoming Sophomores on Tuesday, June 30, and incoming ninth graders on Wednesday, July 1. All sessions will be held at Rio Rancho Middle School (formerly the Mid-High), 1600 40th St. NE, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Students and families will be seen on a first-come first-served basis.
Parents and students unable to attend on those days will have the opportunity to review schedules during registration at the end of July. The Cleveland High staff looks forward to meeting with students and parents and thanks them in advance for their patience during the schedule review.

New Student Information
- Rio Rancho Public Schools will be using a new student information system, PowerSchool, starting this fall.
- PowerSchool is a web-based system that will contain all of our student information including attendance, scheduling, grading, emergency information, parent/guardian information and health records.
- ParentConnect will be discontinued as of 6/9/2009.Parents of middle and high schools will receive more information regarding the implementation of the replacement of ParentConnect bylate Fall 2009.
- We are excited to launch this new system and ask for your patience while we make all the necessary adjustments!
Run For CHS School Advisory Council (SAC)
In preparation for a busy school year next year, we are looking for parents, staff members, and community members who would like to serve on the Cleveland High School advisory school council. The council advises the principal on school budgets, curriculum, and rules and policies and are champions for students in building community support for schools. School councils consist of two school staff members, two parents, and two community representatives who must be Rio Rancho residents or have a student enrolled in a Rio Rancho public school. The principal serves as an active member of the council. Meetings are held four or more times per year.
Candidates for school council are chosen through elections conducted at the beginning of the school year. Those wishing to serve should file a declaration of candidacy, which can be obtained here. Declarations of candidacy should be returned in person to the Annex or to the district office, 500 Laser Rd. NE. Candidates will be asked to show ID and proof of residency when submitting their declarations of candidacy.
The deadline for filing is Friday, August 21, and candidates wishing to file for those positions may file at Rio Rancho Annex located at 481 Rio Rancho Blvd. or at the district office located at 500 Laser Road. Click here for full information about joining our School Advisory Council!
