How do I enroll my child?
To enroll your child, bring the child’s legal birth certificate, immunization record,  and proof of your residency (rental agreement, utility bill, contract for house being built) to the school’s office.  Also bring previous IEP, if applicable, and report card from previous school. Where do I drop off/pick up my child?
You should drop off your child beginning at 8:40 AM at the drop-off area in the parking lot behind the gym off of Chayote Rd. Cars should enter the parking lot, proceed counter-clockwise around the perimeter to the drop-off area, then continue around and exit. No parking will be permitted along the perimeter of the parking lot. Parents picking up children after school should park in the parking lot and walk to the pick-up area to meet their children. Children will not be permitted to cross into the parking lot unless escorted by a parent or other responsible adult. Please watch carefully for pedestrians. Speed limit on campus is 5mph.

May my student ride the bus to school and to daycare?
Elementary school students who live further than one mile away from school and are attending their assigned school may ride the school bus to school. The one-mile limit is set by state statute, and the only exceptions state law permits are for areas where the state agrees that hazardous walking conditions exist. The district will consider special requests to allow students to ride buses to daycare and after-school programs on a space-available basis.

Where will the school bus pick up my child?
Upon enrollment, you will be given information about school bus stops.

Can my child ride his/her bike to school?
Yes. Bicycle racks will be provided at the school. Parents should provide a sturdy lock to secure the bike to the rack and prevent theft. Students must store their bikes in the rack and may not ride them elsewhere on campus. Students riding bikes to school must also wear safety helmets.

May I volunteer in my child’s classroom?
We encourage parents to volunteer one day a week. In addition, parent volunteers are welcomed in other areas of the school such as the library.

Why must parents sign in when visiting the school?
When you come to visit the school, for a short drop-off of an item or to help in the classroom all day, it is imperative that you sign-in at the front office.  For the safety of the children, the teachers have been instructed to send anyone without an ID badge back to the front office.  We want all of our children to be safe.  Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

How are teachers assigned?
Since children have different learning styles, and children sometimes learn better in some environments than others, principals make every effort to assign children to classrooms where the teaching and learning environment is compatible with the way their child learns. This is a fairly involved process, so student classroom and teacher assignments usually are not completed until a few days before school starts. Our schools encourage parents to get to know and to work with their children’s teachers, and with this in mind, parents will have the opportunity to meet their child’s teacher either right before or shortly after school starts.

Is my child’s teacher qualified?
All of the teachers have bachelor degrees.  Twelve have Master’s degrees.  The average teaching experience is 10.9 years.

What if I have concerns about my child’s progress?
If you have concerns about your child’s progress, please set up a meeting with the teacher to discuss those concerns. We think you will find that our staff is more than willing to work with you to help your child succeed in school. If you’ve met with the teacher and still have concerns, you should then set up an appointment with the teacher and principal.

Are students allowed to use the Internet at school?
Yes.  Before a student may use the Internet, a parent or guardian must sign the Rules for Appropriate Use form.  Classroom teachers usually send this form home at the beginning of the school year.  All use of the Internet by students is supervised by the teacher and is related to curriculum being studied in class.
