Positive Behavior Support Program

PBS (Positive Behavior Support): is a positive approach to discipline at our school.  Learning and teaching occur best in school climates that are positive, orderly, courteous, and safe.  The goal at RRES is to help children learn to be responsible for their actions as they practice skills that support their success. All discipline is administered with respect and dignity for our students.

 

Components of our school plan include clearly stated expectations, logical consequences for inappropriate choices and recognition for students who display good examples of Responsibility, Respect, Effort and Safety (RRES) at our school.

Student Involvement:

 

Student mediators are an important part of the success of our postive behavior support system.  They help students work out diferences in a constructive way.

Students and their parents may earn “Feathers” (coupons) for positive behavior in any area of our school. These coupons are collected weekly and the principal along with student council members announce approximately 25 names over the public address system at our school. Each quarter, all students who are examples of positive behavior at school are eligible to participate in an assembly as recognition of their ability to monitor their own behavior. Our focus is on what students are doing right and with our PBS system we are helping our students internalize what it means to be a well rounded responsible citizen.
