Let the Wild Rumpus Start!
Rio Rancho Elementary Literacy Week
November 9th-13th
Our theme is Where the Wild Things Read
Friday, November 6-Nifty Fifty Dance-For students that turned in a reading log by Nov. 3 after reading 50 books or chapters.
Monday-Book Riddles will be read over the announcements. Your child will have an opportunity to win a new book!
Tuesday- Drop Everything and Read!! 9:05-9:15
Spelling Bee 2:00
Wednesday-Book Character Day! Dress up as your favorite storybook character!
Thursday-Read Roadrunner Spirit Day! All students, parents, and staff wear Rio Rancho Elementary Roadrunner Spirit Shirts!
Family Literacy Night! Come one, come all to walk through literacy displays. Listen to reader’s theater, poetry readings and performances by our wonderful readers!! 6:00-7:30
5:30 PTA will be selling slices of pizza, soda, and water for $1.00!
Bring your own camera to take your child’s picture as a wild thing!
Friday-Snack, Snuggle, and Read! Your child is more than welcome to wear pajamas and bring their favorite book to school.

We have some famous authors coming to visit us during Literacy Week!
Carol Foskett Cordsen will be visiting kindergarten classes on Monday, Nov. 9th and visiting first grade classes on Tuesday, Nov. 10th.
Her books are The Milkman and Market Day.
Vaunda Micheaux Nelson will be doing a Writer’s Workshop with 4th and 5th graders on Wednesday, Nov. 11th.
Her new books are Who will I be, Lord? and Bad News for Outlaws; The Remarkable Life of Bass Reeves, Deputy U.S. Marshall.
Mary Saunders will be doing an origami workshop with 2nd graders on Friday, Nov. 13th, and with 3rd graders Monday, Nov. 16th.
Her origami book is Spread Your Wings and Fly.
RRPS Announcement about 2009-10 Budget Situation
New Student Information System!
Rio Rancho Public Schools will be using a new student information system, PowerSchool, starting this fall.
PowerSchool is a web-based system that will contain all of our student information including attendance, scheduling, grading, emergency information, parent/guardian information and health records.
We are excited to launch this new system and ask for your patience while we make all the necessary adjustments!
