Many classes at Maggie Cordova Elementary School, as with many schools in the district, are at or above maximum student capacity.  We are required to notify you of this situation.

Re:          Parent Notification of Waiver to Be Filed with NM Public Education Department Regarding Class Overloads for Certain Classes

Your child is in a class that exceeds the maximum number of students allowed by the Public Education Department and New Mexico Administrative Code 6.30.2.10.G, therefore, RRPS is submitting a waiver request of class size loads, which is allowed by the referenced New Mexico Administrative Code.

While the District believes strongly in following State-required class sizes, it is complying with the policy requiring filing of a Waiver when a district cannot comply with those class sizes.  RRPS is submitting this waiver because budget limitations do not allow us to hire additional teachers.  However, each school affected has carefully analyzed and scheduled students so there would be the minimal impact for students and teachers.
