Here is what we're learning:

Math:
In math this week we will be covering shortcuts for "harder" subtraction facts and reviewing all of section two in Every Day Mathematics. We will be taking our Unit 2 test this week and graphing our results into our data folders.
Language Arts:
In Language Arts this week we will continue reading the story Helping Out, by George Ancona within our text book. We will read it various different ways and use different methods to help us connect to the text to help prepare us for our comprehension test.
Also, This week we will continue practicing our grammar and sentence/paragraph structure. In addition, we will be talking about pre-writing and drafting during writing workshop. We will also be learning about plural nouns. Lastly, we will continue to learn new words from our word wall and talk about what they mean.
We will also continue reading groups (literature circles). Students will read with other students at or around their
reading level and do several activities to check for
comprehension.
Science:
In science this week we will be using our science kit to learn and experiment with rocks and soil. We are observing soil, clay, and dirt to see which one grows the best plant. Students are really enjoying this unit.
Social Studies:
This week we will be learning about the globe. We will learn the names of the oceans and continents.
