Reading
Please remember to read with your child at least 15 minutes every night. Miss Chris and I love giving out stickers to kiddos who bring their reading bags back. I can’t wait until the end of the month to hand out Star Reader Awards (200 or more minutes a month). Remember you can read to or with your child.
In addition, please remember to study those spelling words every night!
Read Across America day is March 2nd and we will be reading a variety of Dr. Seuss books and learning about Dr. Seuss!
Writing
We have been working very hard on writing 7-up sentences (sentences with 7 or more words in them). We are also working on remembering capitals and punctuation on our sentences.
We are continuing to work on paragraph writing and this month we are going to be writing a Biography about Dr. Seuss.
Math
We are beginning to work more on problem solving and the 4-square model (explaining our thinking). We continue to learn and use math vocabulary to help us solve word problems. Homework will continue to come home at least once a week in reading bags. Please sign the homework so I know that they have been helped with it.
Science and Social Studies
In Science we are finishing up our study of biodiversity and healthy science. Our next unit will be on changes, such as lunar phases and seasons.
