What we are learning in math:

• coins and their values
• counting and grouping of objects by 1s, 5s, and 10s and now 2s
• manipulating and reading a calculator
• reading, counting and writing our numbers to 50 and beyond
• adding using dice, beans, hearts, tallies, pennies, and more
• reading a calendar
• time to the hour
• creating, extending and identifying patterns as AB, AAB, ABC, etc.
• introduction of writing and reading of number words (one, two, three...)
• graphing
• ordering numbers, least to greatest

What we are learning in language arts:

Dr. Seuss' Birthday was March 2nd. We made and tried green eggs and ham. How did it taste?

• we all took turns reading pages from P.D. Eastman's Go, Dog. Go!
• responding to literature
• recognizing site words
• singing, reading and listening to rhymes, especially from Jack Prelutsky!
• writing to express meaning; emphasizing correct letter formation and spacing between words
• first separating a word into syllables, then breaking syllables into individual sounds
• nurturing ability to read with fluency, reading in small group and one-on-one with Mrs. Mosley
• sequencing
• deciphering between the letters b,d,p,q
• word families, currently -et (pet, set, met, jet...)

What we are learning in science:

• life science
• identifying major structures of common living things like; My Body, Crickets, Plants, Animals, etc.
• recognizing and describing "family"
• germs

 

What we are and will be learning in social studies:

• important people
• presidents on coins
• why we follow rules, laws and practice being a good citizen
• recognize and name symbols of the United States
