In literacy, we will be:

• reading sight words (no, on, we, here, have, and said)
• reading uppercase and lowercase letters
• recognizing sounds of letters (l, b, h, k, and o)
• phonemic awareness skills (beginning sounds, blending sounds, ending sounds, rhyming words, etc.)
• developing a personal resource of words in writing
• writing to express meaning
• writing uppercase and lowercase letters

In math, we will be:

• learning the names and value of coins
• comparing numbers and ordering numbers 0-20
• reading numbers 0-50
• writing numbers 0-50
• developing our use of standard and non-standard units of measurement
• reinforcing and extending our counting skills
• counting by 5s and 10s and backwards
• estimating objects to 20
• representing numbers in different ways
• creating, extending, and describing patterns
• recognizing and describing our shapes

In Science, we will be:

• observing and describing the relative sizes and characteristics of objects
• observing that things move in many different ways
• observing how energy does things
• using our senses to observe surroundings
• observing that there are many objects in the night sky and that some are brighter than others
• describing the location and movements of objects in the sky
• observing that changes in weather occur from day to day and season to season
• observing that the sun warms the land and water and they warm the air

In social studies, we will be:

• learning about New Mexico, including our state symbols
