Wow what a great start! Mr. Von Osten and I are so impressed with the great group of students we will be working with this year! We have loved how the schedule has been working out and are already seeeing the benefits from our perspective and the students' perspective.  We have designated Wednesdays for tutorials and they will be staying with their homeroom teacher. There is a link to the schedule. You can access this schedule by clicking the animated picture to the right.

We will still be having discoveries in many areas, here is what we are working on now!!

  • Math: Keeping our multiplication mastered! Geometry and building on previous knowledge. Check the Family Letters that come home in homework packets for tips on mastering these skills!!
  • Science: Engineering Toys!
  • Social Studies: Geography and an Introduction into the United States of America!!
  • Literacy: Spelling lists come home on Mondays in their homework folder; We are starting our focus on Realistic Fiction. The AM class is listening to Bridge to Terabilthia and the PM class is listening to Tales of a 4th Grade Nothing. We are also diving into the 6 Traits of Writing and the Elements of Narrative Writing. The students have recieved their individual reading books and are already making great gains.  We are also still following the basal reading curriculum that gives a variety of reading experiences as well!! Keep up that reading at home.  Scholastic News is a great place to start!!
