Math:

Since returning from christmas break we have started a new unit. Unit 7 begins with a review of fraction ideas previously introduced, and extends kowledge by developing a good understanding of equivalent fractions.  Please continue reviewing mulitplication facts with your child.  I'm very pleased with the improvements I've seen thus far.

Science:

We are using the CHOL science kits. Our third one is called NM Earth Science. This unit starts with a look at space as students learn about the night sky.  Then time is spent learning about each of the planets and comparing them to each other.  The focus comes back to Earth as students learn about our air and water, animals around today and those long extinct, and how our planet keeps changing.

Reading:

We are using the Harcourt Trophies series. Theme Four which we are studying now includes a play, two folktales, an expository nonfiction, and a mystery.
