Unit 1
This first unit along with the 5 reading selections focus on the question What experiences can cause a person to change?
In this unit, students will listen, read, and write about life-changing experiences. As the progress through the unit, they will also develop and apply important comprehension skills that all good readers use as they read. Some of the comprehension skills are making inferences, story structure(character, setting, and plot),comparing and contrasting, and sequencing events.
Homework:
It is so important for your child to have their agenda with them daily. Homework is usually assigned Monday - Thursday.
SOCIAL STUDIES
Unit 1
THE LAND OF THE UNITED STATES
We will be discussing why it is important to study geography. We will focus on landforms, bodies of water, and resources of the United States.
In chapter 2 the concepts of the 4 major regions of the United States as well as the climate regions will be discussed.
