Our first grade team is working hard to bring enrichment programs to our students.  The cost of field trips is very high. Do you have information on programs that we could bring into our classrooms? I'd like to find a theater group that would come in to present children's plays for our school. Let me know.

We are starting off the busy holiday season of the year with a continuation of the study of seasons and its affect on people and plants.  We will also learn more about the American Celebration of Thanksgiving.

POPCORN SALES for the grade level start this Friday.  You should be getting a reminder note or call the week you volunteered to help. Thank you for volunteering!.

The November and December Scholastic Book Order flyers will go home this week. The school Book Fair was a great success. Thank you for supporting our library by participating. I know so many people still enjoy purchasing books for holiday gifts and some were not able to attend the book fair. I am sending home the book order forms to provide more options for you. The catalog plus the on-line ordering option gives even more choices for your holiday purchases.

Remember the turkey lunch at CAE is Tuesday, Novemebr 17th.

THANK YOU!

Your support of your child's learning is fantastic! I am receiving math home work and the Reading Logs and Weekly Book Reports from almost all the students. It is a great boost to their learning.

PHYSICAL EDUCATION: We have PE every Monday morning. Please make sure your child wears the appropriate shoes every Monday.

OTHER Reminders:

1. If there is a change in your child’s regular going home schedule, SEND ME A NOTE to let me know.  I can not let a child not ride the bus on their verbal, “My mom said I ……”. We are responsible for your child’s safety and take it seriously. A late change can be made through the school office.

2. Please put your child’s lunch money in an envelope or baggie with their name on it. It prevents confusion and helps our morning prep go smoothly.

3. Please check the green folder daily. I do. That is where I expect to receive notes and money from home.

.

Scholastic On-line Book Ordering: You may use this website and address to place your book order on line.

Daily reading logs are coming back each week with 10 minutes + daily reading time. Thank you for your support of the READING PROGRAM!!!

Language Games: Playing rhyming games or reading nursery rhymes helps keep their language (ear)skills strong. Make up silly rhymes or tongue twisters for fun. Rememebr the game Hang Man or I Spy? They are both excellant games for language as well as family fun.

Math work:

Math Home Links are going home regularly now.

You should see at least 3 a week.

TIME and MONEY are the hardest concepts for your child to learn. To help your child with money and time, give them time limits and allow them to use money to pay for special items. For example:Talk about time left to play, before clean-up and being ready to go. When shopping point out prices on tags and ask how much money they need to pay for that item. Do they have enough? Need more?

Thank you for working with your children and supporting their learning.
