The design of the class is to prepare students for 6th grade and more independence. Students are giving assignment throughout the week and expected to turn all work in on Friday. Daily the schedule is posted on the Smart Board for students to copy in agendas. The purpose of this approach is to teach students to budget their time and become accountable.
Weekly Expectations:
- Morning Wake-up (3-4)
- Reading Log with signature and summary
- Spelling workbook pages from weekly story
- 15 minute math sheets (2-3)
- Math lessons (2-3)
- Math worksheets (1-2)
- Vocabulary words used in sentences/paragraphs
- Vocabulary workbook pages from weekly story
- Think and Respond from weekly story
- Leveled Reader
- Writing lesson
- Language Arts (2-3)
- Graded Paragraph Journal
- Math packet and quiz
- Spelling test
- Comprehension test from weekly story
- A/R Reading deadline (10-14 days)
This is the norm for a 5 day week. At times things change due to shorter weeks, field trips, or any other event that takes away from class time.
