The Rio Rancho High School chapter of the National Honor Society selects members from Juniors and Seniors with overall GPAs of 3.5 or higher plus three semester (not consecutive) GPAs of 3.5 or higher. Prospective members are notified of eligibility at the beginning of each school year and invited to submit an application. Applications are reviewed by an advisory committee comprised of a teacher from each academy. Students whose backgrounds meet the four pillars of NHS -- scholarship, character, leadership, and service -- are invited to be inducted in the November. There is only one induction per year. As NHS is a national organization, membership is noted on your transcript and diploma.

To remain a member in good standing, students are expected to attend a minimum of five (5) chapter meetings, participate in one of the group service projects, and complete your own service project. Members who are seniors and who do not meet these requirements may not receive their tassels. Members who are juniors and who do not meet these requirements may have their membership revoked.
