Brendan Donnelly graduated from Sandia High School in 1989. Coach Murphy coached Brendan in both baseball and football at SHS. The two have remained close friends ever since. Donnelly has the win in game six of the 2002 world series for the Angels and pitched 2 scorless innings in game 7. In 2007 Brendan got his second world series ring pitching for the Boston Red Sox. While in New Mexico a few years back Brendan worked out at Rio Rancho High School and worked numerous baseball camps for the younger kids. Brendan is also honored in the Albuquerque Sports hall of fame !
