RRPS Board of Education Profiles

The five-member, elected School Board is the statutory governing body for the school district. The board is responsible for establishing overall direction and district policy. Under state law, the board hires the district Superintendent. Board elections are held every four years on the first Tuesday in February of the election year. 

Elections were held for Districts 1, 3, and 5 on February 3, 2009. For District 1, incumbent Don Schlichte defeated challenger Jan Marfyak 200-142. In District 3, Margaret Terry ran unopposed. In District 5, out-going Lisa Cour was replaced by Craig Brandt with a total of 180 votes. His nearest competitor was Tom Dixon with 127 votes. Terms for new board members will begin in March 2009.
