Comments: Rio Rancho High continues to be competitive with other large high schools around the state. Most students perform well on the state achievement tests. However, not enough students with disabilities and English-language learners met state targets for proficiency in reading and mathematics--a situation Rio Rancho HS continues to aggressively address.

Rio Rancho High is considered to be a "Corrective Action" school by the state. For further information about what this means, click here.

Comments: The NM State Standards-Based Assessment is administered to 9th and 11th graders. Independence HS, which largely serves seniors, had too few students in those grades to have reportable results for the number of students demonstrating proficiency in reading and math. In a school with a student population the size of Independence's, a few students not showing up to take the test can cause the school to not make AYP based on the required 95% participation rate.

Independence High is considered to be a "Corrective Action" school by the state. For further information about what this means, click here.

Comments: The Rio Rancho Cyber Academy serves students through online classes, and many Cyber Academy students complete class work at home. In a school with a student population the size of Cyber Academy's, a few students not showing up to take the test can cause the school to not make AYP based on the required 95% participation rate.

Cyber Academy students met the state proficiency targets in reading and mathematics (view PED report).
