Welcome to the Senior Research EXPO home!

This year's EXPO Dates:

- Senior EXPO (high school): Thursday, January 15th
- Junior EXPO (mid high): Thursday, January 22nd

More than 250 Rio Rancho High School and Rio Rancho Mid-High School students have been testing their theories and are now ready to present their results to the 120 volunteer judges and the community at the EXPO, Thursday, January 15 in the RRHS Gymnasium, 301 Loma Colorado NE. The public is invited to visit from noon until 1:30 PM. Admission is free, but donations are welcomed.

The Research EXPO program is designed to help students develop critical thinking skills by researching topics in a variety of disciplines including humanities, business, engineering, fine arts, and other academic areas, as well as science and mathematics. Students choose a topic of interest to them, develop a testable question about that topic, gather and analyze data, and prepare materials reporting their results.

Students with projects receiving an award will be invited to participate in the Central New Mexico Science and Engineering Challenge, the regional-level science and engineering competition. From there, they can qualify for state and international competition. Rio Rancho students have qualified to compete at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (Intel ISEF) in each of the last six years.

Students from Independence High School’s Culinary Arts program will get some hands-on experience during the EXPO through catering a luncheon for the judges. Sunflower Farmers Markets and Harris Ranch are providing support for this program.

Our goal is simple: "We want our students to rekindle their natural curiosity by doing!"

Last year (2007-08) a record 4 students from Rio Rancho qualified for International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) in Albuquerque, where two of the students claimed a 3rd and 4th place against the world in their respective categories! THIS WAS AGAINST 1500 OF THE BRIGHTEST MINDS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD!!
