The Rio Rancho High School Master Dance Company successfully
reached out to several RRPS schools last week in an effort
to bring quality dance education to the children of the
Rio Rancho community. The company recently completed their
premiere performance of the season, Colors Of
The Wind, (A Salute to Disney) directed by Lois Moreno,
Fine Arts Academy Head at Rio Rancho High School.
“The performance was a success on many levels”
says Moreno, “not only was the performance a resounding
success with adults, but the company was able to reach
out and touch children with Disney’s innocent and
inspiring music.”

Moreno, who is also the Rio Rancho High School Dance
Director, has a vision for dance in the Rio Rancho Public
School system. The Master Dance Company will conduct outreach
performances of all of their shows followed by a question/answer
session with the kids in an effort to expose young children
to dance.

In February when Master Dance students perform “Love
Can Move Mountains” and again in May, “Burn
The Floor” the company will attempt to reach out
to those remaining RRPS schools. Eventually, Master Dance
students could mentor younger students in the district
through independent study courses. Not only will Master
Dance students be offering community service, but they
will also be creating safe fun alternatives for kids to
express themselves.
